Description
Description:The ADM-20C Quail was designed during the Cold War as an unarmed air launched missile decoy to help USAF bombers penetrate into Soviet airspace by confusing their defense systems. The ADM-20C was designed to simulate the radar cross section of a real bomber and mimic the flight characteristics of a manned aircraft. It could travel at 0.9 mach with a maximum range over 600 miles.
Over 600 were produced by McDonnell Aircraft Corp. and it was deployed in service from 1960 through 1977, when it was declared obsolete.
