An Asphalt Nebula example from early 2011. This is a cropped section from an oil spill that was approximately 2 feet long alongside a curb. Most Asphalt Nebula specimens don't have this much bright green for me to work with. To me, this looks like a bird with a big beak about to eat a black olive....

I've been into science and nature since a kid and a photographer for over 50 years. While still primarily interested in aircraft and exotic cars, I've more recently gotten into birds and insects -- especially the wonderful world of bees, hummingbirds, and other pollinators. In all cases, I want to present these subjects in a way that moves those who normally wouldn't be interested to become motivated enough to explore them on their own.
