Artist's Description
Psychedelic oil stains on the ground from clunker cars. After digital enhancement, they look like NASA Hubble Space Telescope images of outer space glowing gases known singularly as a nebula.
About Samuel Sheats
I've been into science and nature since a kid and a photographer for over 50 years. While still primarily interested in aircraft and exotic cars, I've more recently gotten into birds and insects -- especially the wonderful world of bees, hummingbirds, and other pollinators. In all cases, I want to present these subjects in a way that moves those who normally wouldn't be interested to become motivated enough to explore them on their own.

These oil and petrol stains must have been around for a hundred years or more but it has taken an artist like yourself Samuel to reveal their beauty to us, thank you I will be looking at the road surface with new eyes now!
Samuel Sheats replied:
Thanks, Mike. When I was in Scotland I was too enamored with the beautiful scenery and great scotch (11 distilleries in 12 days!) and it wasn't raining....Next time I go I'll be on the lookout to compare and contrast.
